The
beauty of Trancoso’s
beaches is known throughout
Brazil. Located in the South
of Bahia, Trancoso, its beaches
and the village “Quadrado”
creates one of the most magical
environments in the country
for those seeking a unique
vacation experience. The village
was originally founded by
the Jesuits in the fifteenth
century.
One of the earliest settlements
of the Portuguese in Brazil,
it is symbolized by the church
of Sao Joao Baptist and the
surrounding “Quadrado”
which consists of a large
square of shops and restaurants
and a central square where
natives play soccer and young
and old stroll through the
area or head for the beaches.
The entire area sets on a
cliff above the sea and provides
a panoramic view of the beaches
running to the north and south
of Trancoso. The village itself
is a cascade of colorful shops
offering local arts and crafts
as well as the latest fashion
accessories from the stores
of Sao Paulo. You will also
find some of the best restaurants
in the area.
During the day you will
find a mixture of young
and old and almost every
nationality strolling the
Quadrado or heading for
the most beautiful beaches
in Brazil. To the north
you will find the famous
Nativos beach. It is bordered
on two sides by rivers that
create large sand dunes
and shallow pools where
you can swim or relax and
gaze at the white sand and
emerald seas. To the south
are the beaches of Itaporaco
filled with coconut palms,
small bars and music.
At night the Quadrado transforms
into one of the most magical
places in Brazil. The entire
area is lit by candlelight
and music and locals and
vacationers alike come to
experience the fine foods,
dance, shopping and energy
of this magical place. Strolling
under the moon and stars
most of us feel that we
need search no more….we
have found our place….our
home.
